Turning Point Youth Services, a multi-faceted and dynamic agency Accredited with Children's Mental Health Ontario, is committed to responding pro-actively and individually to the life challenges facing each of our clients. We are actively seeking a qualified and dedicated staff member to join our mental health treatment program as an Awake Overnight Youth Worker for a 5 month contract with possibility of extension.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide direct, quality care and supervision to residents in the shelter.
- Ensure the safety and security of the residents in the facility.
- Support youth in the development of case plans (as per City of Toronto Shelter Standards) and provide ongoing case management
- Complete reports and documentation as needed, ensuring client records are accurately recorded in the Shelter Management Information System (SMIS).
- Participate in the daily operation of the facility.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Diploma or degree in a related field (i.e. BSW, CYW, SSW, etc.)
- At least 1 year relevant experience working with adolescents or homeless youth, preferably in a shelter setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk adolescents and young adults
- Understanding the complex issues facing our clients
- Sound knowledge of the issues facing homeless and street-involved youth, as well as community resources.
- Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strengths-based relationship based approach
- Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
- Good communication skills - verbal and written.
- Good administrative and computer skills.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Valid “Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour” certification.
- Valid “First Aid/CPR” certification.
- Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 with a Health Canada approved vaccination series.

This is a collective bargaining unit position within CUPE Local 3501B.
