**Purpose**:
Order/Entry of laboratory tests, labelling, accessioning of all types of laboratory samples. Filing ofhistology blocks and slides. Types and photocopies routine correspondence, maintains files and completes variousforms, e.g. shipping orders and purchase requisitions. Orders adequate supplies, maintains office equipment, andprovides information to staff upon request, e.g. scheduling and payroll. Answers and directs phone calls and pagesstaff as required.

**Education and Training**:

- Successful completion of grade twelve or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) orAcademic and Career Entrance (ACE).
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 6 months recent relevant experience.

**Knowledge/Skills/Ability**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Terminology.
- Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 50 w.p.m.
- Proficiency in data entry and familiarity with computerized Patient Information Systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to communicateeffectively with patients, physicians and other health care professionals.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and the ability to function in a multi-tasked environment.
