Reporting to the Program Coordinator - Fitness, you will provide instruction in and monitor the safe use of equipment in the fitness centre while ensuring safety and cleanliness of the group fitness, indoor cycling and fitness centre equipment and spaces. Your core responsibilities include: Monitoring fitness areas to ensure patrons abide by rules and utilize equipment safely; respond to incidents and emergencies, provide first aid as needed and complete the correct documentation when necessary; provide high quality customer service; check spaces for safety and cleanliness and report any equipment that may need repairs to the supervisor team; communicate with the Fitness Supervisory team effectively; maintain a clean and welcoming environment; Complete shift and cleaning tasks, and documentation accordingly; provide orientations and direct instructions to patrons on the use of exercise equipment.

**If you have the following qualifications and attributes, we want to meet you**:

- Ø Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent- Ø Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C- Ø BCRPA/CFES weight training module or equivalent certification. Consideration will also be given to those possessing Canfitpro, CSEP, ACE, ACSM and/or NSCA personal training certifications- Ø An asset but not required: Any additional specialized Fitness certifications such Personal Training or Group Fitness- Ø You have experience with performing cleaning and janitorial tasks in a fitness setting- Ø Physically fit and able to lift weights of differing amounts, clean continuously during shift- Ø Experience providing training and guidance to patrons in a fitness setting- Ø Ability to instruct patrons how to use equipment, review rules, and how to be safe in a fitness environment- Ø Knowledge of proper exercise programs and the use of exercise equipment, as well as knowledge of the theory of movement, body mechanics, and the prevention of injuries in fitness settings- Ø Ability to assist individuals and groups (including special needs groups) on physical fitness exercises and should have the ability to demonstrate standard exercises- Ø Some experience / knowledge of MS Office and Xplor Recreation would be an asset- Ø Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills- Ø You are knowledgeable in and able to perform routine maintenance tasks on fitness equipment- Ø The successful applicant must be able to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check (PIC) including vulnerable sector check- **Applicants must be available to work day, evening and/or weekend shifts.**
