Tomlinson Ready Mix is currently seeking a Quality Control Technician to ensure that ready mix concrete and services are supplied in compliance of CSA and OPSS standards. The quality control technician will also assist sales, operations and maintenance staff with the implementation of concrete, safety and quality control best practices.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Customer Focus**:

- Working with the Quality Control Manager and sales staff to resolve field issues or quality concerns. Ensure good customer relations by means of effective communication and the ability to provide customer support and troubleshooting.

**Quality Control and Quality Assurance**:

- Performs and documents quality control tests in accordance with CSA, ACI and ASTM methods without direct supervision
- Observe field conditions, plastic concrete properties and interpret compressive test results and recommend changes to mix designs.
- Performs testing at the jobsite for slump, air, yield and casting concrete cylinders.
- Sample raw materials for testing at internal and 3rd party labs
- Assist in dispatching and batching operations at the various concrete production facilities

**Health and Safety**:

- Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner.
- Obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and Tomlinson properties
- Ensure co-workers are working in a safe manner in accordance with Tomlinson Health and Safety procedures and policies.
- Assist in the implementation of CoR certification

**REQUIREMENTS**

**Education & Work Experience**:

- Concrete construction experience
- Strong computer skills
- Relative materials testing experience not required but preferred

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Possess a general knowledge of construction, aggregate, concrete products and business opportunities
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions
- Must be timely with sharing information and provide the information people need to get things done and make decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communications - skills to write and speak succinctly in a variety of settings and styles. Abilities in French and English will be considered an asset
- Must be a strong team player and gain the trust and support of peers and customers
- Physically Fit with an ability to sample concrete and aggregates up to 23kg (50lbs)
