The Estimator is responsible for compiling estimates for a client or potential client with roofing and waterproofing services. The Estimator will determining cost, calculate markup, and create budgets accordingly. The key focus areas are assessing material, labour, analyzing different quotes, including potential equipment required. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other technical documents in order to prepare estimates
- Develop and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of roofing types, materials and systems
- Assembled accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner
- Collaborates with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates
- Maintains relationships with sub-contractors and clients
- Needs to understand contractual terms and conditions
- Provides clear and detailed take-offs
- Organizes sub-contractor quotations
- Evaluates a tender’s cost-effectiveness and profitability
- Meets with potential clients to discuss options for proposed services
- Recommends ways to make products more cost-effective and profitable
- Review estimates of junior estimators, identify inconsistencies, share experience and communicate a path to resolution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction/roofing estimating
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
- Experience analyzing job costs
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Strong work ethic and effective time management
- Undertake and execute multiple tasks simultaneously
- Capable of reading and understanding all drawings and specifications
- Advanced understanding of Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, etc.).
- Excellent time management and scheduling abilities
- Highly attentive to detail
- Proven ability to work effectively to deadlines
