**Specifics: Part-Time Weekend 12 hr nights (minimum 2 weekend/month commitment)**

Pay : Hourly rate as per set wage grid according to the job position + Night Shift premium applicable _**for awake shift workers only.**_

**About us**:

- The Respite Care Centre offers caregivers short-term RESPITE relief and proper support to children, youth and young adults with varying physical and development disabilities including autism and down syndrome. Our respite services include PD day, holiday and weekend camps, workshops, events, social groups, overnights in our Centre located at 190 Church St. in Garson, ON.
- We are looking for respite workers who have patience and kindness with a minimum of 2 years experience working with children to join our team.

**Specialized Respite Worker Duties** **(include but are not limited to)**:

- Provide in-home and in-centre respite care to children, teens and young adults aged 0-30 who are Autistic, have down syndrome and/or a variety of other developmental and physical disabilities
- Support and manage diverse needs and difficult behaviors and/or complex situations with the support of a multidisciplinary team
- Engage in and assist clients in sensory play, communication and social interactions
- Provide 1:1, 2:1 or 1:3 support for clients at our centre and in-home and ensure a positive impact on your clients mental, emotional, spiritual and/or physical well being and social development
- Support client’s personal care needs including eating, dressing and toileting (diaper changes)
- Required to be able to meet all physical and mental demands involved in the client’s care (lifting, bending, repetitive tasks, and high emotional situations etc.)
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with families and clients
- Maintain an environment that protects and prioritizes the health and safety of the client and fellow team members

**Qualifications/Criteria**:

- Experience working as either a DSW (Certificate), CYC (Certificate), EA (Intensive support classroom experience an asset), RECE or respite worker (MINIMUM of 2 years working directly with disabled children and those with agressive behaviours REQUIRED)
- Valid driver’s and access to a vehicle
- Advanced oral and written communication skills in English, French an asset

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 24 per week
