We are looking to expand our highway maintenance operations areas and are preparing a response to an RFP announced by the Provincial Government for highway maintenance contracts in the Edmonton area (CMAs 506/509/510).

The **Superintendent, Highway Maintenance**, under the direction of the Contract Manager, will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of highway maintenance operations throughout the assigned geographical area, manage the work of supervisors, crews and equipment operating within the CMAs, ensuring the optimal use of resources to meet all Maintenance Contract performance requirements and specifications.

Key responsibilities:_**
- Ensure that LaPrairie Works Inc. Environmental, Health & Safety Program is being properly applied and followed
- Ensure that standard specifications in the applicable Highway Maintenance Contracts are being implemented and followed
- Oversee all highway maintenance activities and extra work projects within the area of responsibility
- Ensure highway maintenance personnel are scheduled in accordance with daily, weekly, monthly and annual work schedules
- Effectively guide the supervisory group by monitoring and assessing employee assignments and evaluating and addressing performance issues relative to our policies and maintenance contract specifications
- Facilitate the instruction of employees on safe and environmentally sound work procedures/practices
- Ensure that emergency highway maintenance work is expedited at any time it is required
- Complete necessary schedules/ reports/inspections/investigations, and maintain concise records
- Display a high degree of communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Display a positive and cooperative approach to problem solving with colleagues, partners, customer and local communities
- Experience required:_
- 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role within the highway maintenance and/ or highway construction sectors with demonstrated motivating, training, appraising and general supervisory skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
- Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, presentation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and customers
- Ability to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed
