**Job description**

**We are currently recruiting for a Janitorial Evening Working Supervisor for Scotia Square Halifax, NS.**

**General Description**:
The Working Supervisor is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all evening aspects of janitorial for a Halifax site, including staff and service administration. The working supervisor effectively and efficiently manages the development and direction of the operational team to drive the growth of revenue and technical productivity. Ensures that all aspects under their control are compliant with all applicable legislation, including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Responsible for the financial accountability of the operations and maintenance department budgets. Ensure that all compliance procedures are in place and all safety procedures are followed to avoid any accidents or incidents. Ensure that safety is made a priority and that employees and managers are abiding by all electrical and Health and Safety regulations. Provide planning and forecasting to allow for the adequate approvals for the departments under their control. Oversee staff and hires and train personnel. Ensure that new employees are trained and oriented as appropriate for their new positions; performing follow-up sessions to ensure their proper fit within the company. Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary. Develop and implement strategies around improving the financial performance of the department. Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures. Liaise with clients providing updates on a regular basis. Administer payroll, transfers and terminations for account. Complete logs and inspections to ensure accurate paper trail of work performed. Ensure that all requirements of the Employment Standards Act are followed. Perform quality assurance inspections and prepare monthly reports. Monitor and inspect building for additional services or “extras.” Develop and maintain on-going working relationship with property management/tenants. Perform other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**1+ years of supervisory or managerial experience with exposure and experience in an operations environment including labour relations, represented employees and members. **Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes. Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Maintains a high level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability. Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills. Maintains a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. Capable of managing a budget for key accounts including labour, supplies and other sales related requests. Ability to recruit, train and develop staff and allocate resources according to scheduling requirements. Fluency in English both written and oral is mandatory, and any other languages are an asset. Technical skills include; ability to use MS Office suite of software.

**Salary**: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
