Beaches Sandbox is currently seeking Junior Camp Counsellors to assist in running our 2024 Summer Camp.

The position of Junior Camp Counsellor involves assisting in leading groups of up to 15 children aged 5-10 for one week from July 2- August 23, 2024.
- Junior Camp Counsellors will assist Senior Counsellors in program planning, delivery, supervision, and communicating with parents/guardians, children, and the community, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children registered for the program, all while providing a fun and engaging camp experience.
- Each group of campers will have a senior counsellor, a junior counsellor, and multiple CITs. Junior Counsellors are required to bring their own ideas, experience, great attitude, and outgoing personality to the camp.
- Applicants should be organized, responsible, and comfortable working with kids and answering any questions parents or guardians may have regarding the camp.
- Leadership qualities, experience with camp or leading children in a recreational setting, valid first aid & CPR certificate are required. This position requires the ability to commit to mandatory training, prep work and a one-week camp period.

**Requirements**:
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provides a safe, fun, and meaningful camp experience for children aged 5-10 years.
- Assists Senior Camp Counsellors in planning, developing and leading camp programming, while following the principles of Healthy Child Development (HIGH FIVE)
- Ensures equipment is clean, safe, and ready for participants to use.
- Interacts with staff, participants, and parents/caregivers daily to answer any questions or concerns about camp programming.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all camp participants.
- Follows all Beaches Sandbox safety protocols and procedures.
- Attends and participates in meetings and trainings.
- Assists Senior Camp Counsellor with some administrative tasks to ensure programs run smoothly (attendance, incident reports, etc.)

Qualifications:

- Must be 16 years or older.
- Ability to commit to mandatory training, prep, and an 8-week camp period.
- Has previous camp experience or experience working with children in a recreational setting.
- Has valid CPR/First Aid training and can produce proof of certification to be kept on file.
- Willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check if applicable.
- Must provide (2) references.

Compensation:

- $19/hr

Hours:

- 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
- Camp does not operate on statutory holidays.
- Camp runs from July 2 - August 23, 2024.

Work Location: In person at Beaches Sandbox, 2181 Queen Street East, Toronto ON

**Salary**: $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
