**Casual / Part Time Job Description - Youth Resource Worker**We are a dynamic service delivery agency that offers resources to **youth between the ages of 5-19 years old** in the Fraser Valley and its surrounding areas. We are currently casual and part-time **Youth Support Workers**.

Our homes provide a safe and caring environment and offers support, encouragement, and ideas for youth who are often not involved in school or community programs. Our youth struggle with a range of trauma-based issues including addictions, attachment difficulties, social skill deficits, anger management, contact with law enforcement and mental health/illness.

We create individualized plans with a care team that address the youth’s mental health, social, behavioural, and emotional needs offering supports and guidance to achieve wellness, personal growth and independence.

**You must have knowledge and experience working with complex youth.**
- **You bring**:
1. Child and Youth Worker diploma or related degree and/or a minimum of two years of experience in providing care to youth who have experienced trauma, conflict within the family and community at large, and exhibit conduct and behavioral disorders.

2. Practical and theoretical knowledge of adolescent development, youth issues and community resources.

3. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and empathetic attitude in the face of a variety of behaviors, in terms of culture, religion, race, creed, sexuality, ability or physical appearance.

4. Ability to perform well under pressure and handle crisis situations and conflict.

5. Ability to maintain strong personal boundaries with the youth and staff.

6. Sound oral communication skills and the ability to relay important information as needed.

7. Sound written communication skills, ability to fill out paperwork correctly and the ability to meet deadlines.

8. Valid standard first aid.

9. Valid class 5 BC Driver’s License or Transit Knowledgeable

10. Ability to successfully pass the Ministry of Children and Family Development’s HUB criminal record check screening.
- **Responsibilities**

To promote the well-being of children, youth and families by providing a normalized, caring living environment to meet the developmental, emotional and social needs of youth who living in our resources

To encourage opportunities for change and growth through positive interactions in the resource(s) community, school and family settings.

All team members are committed to supporting youth through program participation, transporting youth, meal planning and preparation, household duties, attending activities and appointments, and recreation.

Additional duties include attending staff meetings, record keeping and report writing. Overnights are required with 24-hour shifts. The interested persons should be in good physical health with a passion for working with youth and an attitude to be an ally with our youth in day-to-day activities.

**Duties**:

- Assisting clients with housekeeping or other daily errands
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Observing and reporting on changes in the health or status of the client
- Preparing food and feeding clients
- Responding to emergency situations
- Transporting client to appointments
- Providing support with academic, social or recreational activities

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: $18.00-$24.83 per hour
