**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety requirements and ensure a safety culture is maintained throughout providing health and safety leadership to the organization's Canadian operations under the guidance of Teal Jones’ safety policies and consistent with WorkSafeBC’s regulatory standards. Assist Divisional Leadership in implementing, monitoring, and managing our safety program, policies, and procedures. Support operational leaders in identifying unsafe conditions, conducting facility audits, and evaluating working conditions with recommendations to improve employee safety. Responsible for maintaining safety incident records and tracking assigned programs within the department. Plan and accomplish goals performing a variety of tasks with mínimal supervision.
**Major Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Requests / Support for managers and supervisors
- On-the-floor assistance / guidance
- WSBC Liaison Inspections, requests for information/reporting as needed
**Administration**
- New employee Orientations
- Employee Safety Handbooks
- Crew talk packages
- SWP updating/revising
- OHS weekly, monthly, yearly reporting
**Disability Management**
- Disability Management Program Administration (first aid, form 7, investigation, IM/RTW packages, communicate with employees, supervisors, medical practitioners, WSBC, payroll,)
**Safety Program Development and/or Maintenance**
- Facilitate and lead monthly JHSC meetings
- Prepare meeting minutes
- Annual review of the safety program and all written procedures
- COR Program - CAL action plan, scheduling, auditing, coordinating, maintain corporate consistency, communicate.
- Supervisor Safety Audits
- Employee training tracking, scheduling, and delivery
- Inspection reports - enter, disseminate, update, verify.
- Corporate OHS Goals
- Dust Mitigation, Confined Space, Fall Protection Plans, Fire Safety Plans, Crane & Hoist Inspection Program and Respirator programs
- New & Young Worker Program reviews/tracking
- Develop and provide Safe Work Procedures and training packages for various positions.
- Noise Exposure Testing / coordinate Annual Hearing Tests
- Confined Space Drills / Working from Heights Rescue drills
- TDG Surrey Site
**Other**
- Maintains professional and specialized knowledge by keeping abreast new developments/regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Willing to travel to other locations as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Completion of BCIT Occupational Health and Safety program or equivalent;
- Strong communication skills;
- OFA Level 3 certification;
- 5 years work experience - saw mill or heavy industry preferred;
- CRSP Accreditation preferred;
- Minimum of 5 years' experience;
- Thorough knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office software systems;
- Can work both independently with mínimal supervision and collaboratively in a team.
