Cookhouse Assistant

The Cookhouse assistant helps with both kitchen, cashier and interpreter duties. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including welcoming visitors and interpreting the lumbering history of Big Salmon River, portable sawmills, schoolhouse foundation, working a POS system, and assisting in kitchen duties.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Welcome visitors
- Explain the history of Big Salmon River which is primarily lumbering related
- Operate a POS system
- Balance cash
- Take and fulfill orders
- Assist in the preparation of food items including picnic lunches, breakfasts and baked goods
- Receive and store of supplies; food handling and preparation
- Load food on carts
- Clean dishes and kitchen equipment
- Keep a tidy workspace including cleaning washrooms, stocking shelves, refrigerators, and freezers
- Follow proper procedures for the Cookhouse
- Ensure health & safety standards are maintained
- Clean of the kitchen, main Cookhouse room and washrooms
- Prepare menu items required
- Assemble product
- Other duties assigned by the Cookhouse Manager

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Experience**
- High School Diploma or GED supplemented
- POS experience
- One (1) year of experience cooking and the completion of a recognized food handler course a definite asset
- Bilingualism is a definite asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 11 weeks

**Salary**: $17.00-$18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- St. Martins, NB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
