**Position Description**:
The Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health (FIRH) is based out of St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is affiliated with McMaster University. Clinical, research and educational activities are integrated and largely collaborative within the FIRH. The intent of this institute is to provide optimal patient care through clinical practice, translational research and the training of health care professionals.

**Position Summary**:
The Research Coordinator will be part of a FIRH research team, coordinating a number of research trials, (observational and interventional/industry and investigator-led) to support our ILD/PH research programs. The coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of coordinating and conducting clinical research trials within our patient population.

**Position Responsibilities**:
Technical Skills:
1. Perform all of the following clinical procedures:
a. Pulmonary Function Testing
b. 6MWT
c. ECG
d. Venipuncture
e. Administration of medications (oral, inhaled, IV, SQ, IM)
2.Documentation of procedures as per Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
3.Perform calibrations, quality control and troubleshoot equipment (providing basic preventative maintenance as applicable) on provided equipment including appropriate documentation.
4.Use of proper infection control techniques when working with patients or specimens and following hospital policy and procedures.

Nature and Scope of the Work:
1.Attend Research and Investigator meetings/training, assist in protocol development, REB submission, recruitment, clinical documentation and conduct of protocol as per GCP.
2.Responsible for ILD/PH studies as assigned and as back up coordinator for other ILD/PH studies as required.
3.Available Monday-Friday (days).
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Graduation from an accredited: Respiratory Therapy or Cardio-Pulmonary Technologist program (RRT, CACPT), Nursing (RPN, RN) or other Allied Health Professional (PT, OT).
- Clinical experience with patients an asset.
- Agreeable to undergo training for GCP, HCDiv5, privacy and other required research training (IATA).
- Ability to work with mínimal direct supervision and to follow direction as required.
- Be comfortable to interact with clinical patients in an outpatient setting and provide care reflective of the values of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
- Flexible to an everchanging and fast paced clinical outpatient environment.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.
- Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record.
- Superb organization skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate interactions with the research team, clinical staff and patients.
- Ability to manage more than one assignment at a time and report to multiple principal investigators, sponsors and vendors, with the ability to prioritize, negotiate, set and meet goals and deadlines.
- Excellent general computer literacy is essential (training will be provided for specific programs).

Hourly rate is based on experience, qualifications and The Research Institute of St. Joe’s Research Coordinator pay scale.
