Are you a skilled handyperson looking for a flexible, part-time on-site contract in Kitsilano? Do you enjoy working in a residential environment providing and planning basic maintenance, repairs and upkeep? If so, consider working for us. We are a 44-unit, well-maintained housing co-op built in 1984, in need of an expert handyperson.

**Contract Requirements**
- Self-motivated, flexible, punctual and proactive
- Strong communication skills, calm and friendly, patient, diplomatic, sense of humor
- Completes tasks with attention to detail
- Familiarity with general maintenance procedures
- Basic computer skills

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Evaluate maintenance issues, and competently perform basic plumbing, drywall, electrical, flooring, caulking, grouting, concrete, painting, carpentry and other general repairs, as directed Maintenance Manager
- Recognize and evaluate more complex repairs in consultation with the Maintenance Manager
- Attend monthly Maintenance Committee Meetings (one evening per month)
- Arrange work with co-op approved trades and contractors, and oversee and evaluate their work
- Obtain and evaluate estimates for major repairs in consultation with the Maintenance Committee and Maintenance Manager
- Keep up-to-date maintenance records, cross referenced by Unit and type of repair, plus an accurate monthly time and repair log
- Inspect grounds and buildings
- Note trends and potential problems, and makes recommendations to the Maintenance Manager accordingly
- Under direction of Manager, purchase supplies and equipment as required
- Assist with annual unit inspections
- Perform unit inspections during move-ins and move-outs in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and/or Committee member
- Maintain and organize the maintenance office and storage room.
- Meet and work with the Maintenance Manager to set priorities, review work completed and planned, and plan larger repairs
- Maintain the co-op’s “how-to” manual for the Maintenance Committee
- Respond to emergencies as available

**Hours**
- 20 hours onsite per week (flexible, within business hours, in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and as weekly tasks require)

**Qualifications**
- Handyperson: 1-2 years experience (preferred)
- Experience in minor electrical and plumbing work, as well as multiple trade functions such as painting, drywall, tiling, caulking, general repairs, etc.
- Ability to pass a criminal records check
- Own vehicle, computer, phone and tools (preferred)
- Own liability insurance (preferred)

**Compensation**
- Three weeks off per year

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $36,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week
