**What to expect**:
The SME is an advisor and active developer for the CWB Education and Learning Development team to create and enhance new and existing learning resources. Trainer/Instructor promotes and presents seminars and training courses involving hands on skills upgrade and theory training related to educational programs. This role is responsible for developing professional quality text for use in educational material, including, but not limited to textbooks, presentations, exams, and online content. This position also requires the ability to instruct courses as needed for our CWB Education team. This position requires approximately some travel to facility standalone, custom, or scheduled courses. This includes:
**Resource Development**
- Work well individually and is self-directed, while still functioning as part of a team.
- Develop written content for CWB Group related products and services.
- Help create educational presentations to staff to ensure product knowledge competence.
- Act as primary technical writer and researcher for assigned projects.
- When required, act as technical editor/ peer reviewer, reviewing the work of consultants or other project contributors.
**Project Management**
- Work within a cross-departmental team environment to help deliver large and small projects.
- Is comfortable working to tight deadlines, can shift outcomes and priorities to stay on track.
- Use PD tools and systems to manage and document assigned work.
- Use appropriate work strategies to meet tight deadlines.
- Work with marketing and sales to identify and clarify client or industry needs to identify opportunities for improved, enhanced or new products and services.
**Training Delivery**
- Delivers and presents lessons in a comprehensive manner for courses in a variety of settings.
- Provides hands on skills upgrading and theory training.
- Creates training materials including, the updating of welding supervisor seminar materials and study guides, the creation of material for new seminars and small manuals as part of training packages to be presented.
- Strives to continuously improve the quality and content of CWB training to better meet the present needs and emerging needs of customers.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom.
- Promotion of CWB education
**Safety Requirements**
- Read and comprehend the CWB Group OH&S Management System.
- Comply with all aspects of the CWB Group OH&S Management System.
- Report all accidents to manager, using CWB Form 1018.
- Report all near misses / incidents to manager using CWB Form 1017.
- Report all hazards to manager using CWB Form 1017, which you feel are not addressed by the CWB Group OH&S Management System.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- Maintain/replace personal protective equipment as required.
- Attend safety talks at departmental/operational meetings.
In this position, you will report to the Manager, Online Learning and will be working remotely from your home office. CWB is adopting a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
**What you bring to the table**:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver presentations and develop educational materials.
- Completed 2-3 year course in Welding Technician/Technologist Program, Materials Engineering or Red Seal in welding/metal fabrication
- 5+ years Training/Instructing Adults.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in the Welding and Joining industry, hands on experience is required.
- Thorough knowledge of Welding standards CSA, AWS, ASME, etc.
- CSA W178.2, Level 1 Welding Inspector certification.
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices partnered with a willingness to follow the CWB’s policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in content and curriculum design or development.
- Experience teaching or instructing adults in a post-secondary environment
- Welding Skills - possess CWB and pressure welding qualifications.
