Substructure Superintendent

Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world’s largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and experienced **Substructure Superintendent **to join its dynamic and energetic team.
Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry-leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects.
**Salary range**: $120,000-$160,000 (based on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills).
**Note: This is a site-based position. **No Rotational Schedule**
**Responsibilities**:
- Adhere to and support health, safety & environmental and sustainability policies
- Plan and direct the work activities for assigned construction craft personnel in alignment with engineered drawings, available tools, construction equipment, and materials needed to meet schedules
- Support project and construction management teams with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for all construction activities
- Oversee the care and maintenance of company equipment on the project to maximize use while on the job site and return equipment to storage or the rental company when no longer required
- Hire and manage hourly employees as required to complete the project in consultation with the Project Manager and maintain, approve and submit hourly timecards with all necessary details for job costing purposes
- Analyze situations, identify and forecast potential problems, evaluate realistic options, and recommend/implement an appropriate course of action
- Serve as lead person to coordinate the activities within an active construction work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:
- Gold Seal Certification or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other related field would be considered an asset
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience with cast-in-place concrete and steel formwork systems
- Experience managing carpenter crews and rebar subcontractors
- Familiarity with infrastructure & heavy civil construction projects
- Solid understanding of modern construction practices
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Strong decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Class 5 driver’s license is required
- Availability to potentially work evenings, weekends and longer hours if required
