Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post-secondary degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business Administration or related discipline required. Other acceptable combinations of post-secondary education in a related discipline and experience may be considered
- Experience conducting economic research in the agriculture and agri-food sector in Canada, particularly as it relates to livestock, demonstrated by publications including working papers, journals, presentations, and/or reports
- Advanced analytical and computer skills, including in-depth knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas), data analysis tools and techniques for performing data analysis
- Knowledge of various agri-food sectors, food supply chain, and farm economics (livestock and crop production systems) in Canada and their stakeholders
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences, and actively participate in meetings with senior-level professionals
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports
- Leadership skills evidenced by the ability to identify opportunities and to initiate projects or key activities
- Project management experience in a consulting or research setting, ensuring follow-through and project completion in a timely manner
- Effective interpersonal skills with experience establishing collaborative, client-focused relationships with diverse stakeholders; using political acumen and influence to engage buy-in and accountability for assigned work

**Duties**:
This position leads and participates in a variety of economic analysis projects aligned to department and government priorities and objectives, provides analysis, industry knowledge and represents Manitoba on various national committees with federal and provincial counterparts as an industry expert. The analysis provided by the incumbent is utilized by the department and government in the development of policy, legislation, programs, and activities required for an environment that enables growth and sustainability of the sector.
