As one of the Activity Assistants you will facilitate planned and unplanned program opportunities for the Residents. This will be accomplished by planning, implementing, and evaluating the recreation programs you will assist to meet the physical, psychological, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs of the Residents.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan, Implement, and Evaluatenew and existing programs, and special events.
- Assist in planning monthly calendar of events
- Encouraged to think outside the box for new Program Ideas
- Promote social interaction/participation among Residents in 1:1, small and large group programs.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to meet the Residents needs (ie. nurses, PSW’s, volunteers, and community groups)
- Communicate Effectively in both verbal and written skills with Residents, Staff, Families, Volunteers and Community Members.
- Assist in training and supervising Volunteers and Placement Students.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Activity Director and General Manager.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Diploma or Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, or another related field. Students who are currently enrolled in one of these programs with an expected graduation date within the next three years will be considered.
- Smart Serve Certificate or willing to obtain.
- F Class license a benefit but not required.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of the team.
- Required to work various shifts that may include Days, Afternoons, Evenings and/or Every Other Weekend.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Some lifting and pushing involved in setting up for activities.
- Some requirements for lifting/transferring residents.
- May be exposed to a variety of weather conditions on scheduled outings.
- Frequent use of visual and auditory senses to monitor resident's responses to activities.
- Periodic requirement for evening and week-end work.
- Regular stress associated when dealing with needs of assisted living residents.
- Surgical Mask/N95 required to be worn for duration of shift when necessary.

**REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES**

Reports to the Activity Director.

Part-Time hours: Approximately 20 hours per week
