**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Administer company rules and procedures within the department.
- Monitor effectiveness of systems and procedures within the department.
- Assure that employees are properly trained in safe and efficient performance of their assigned duties.
- Monitor work in process and supplies inventories, on time status of projects and schedules, accuracy of work, and proper adherence to procedures.
- Control departmental expense spending within pre-approved budget.
- Assure timely and accurate information is provided regarding job completion, labour reporting, engineering change implementation, and special customer requirements.
- Assure that production schedules are met; providing advance information regarding needs to make changes in provided capacity.
- Assure equipment assigned to the department is properly and safely maintained and utilized, including welders, lift and hand trucks, fixtures, hand tools and computer/office equipment.
- Assure that commitments made by department are routinely met.
- Review Assembly Department production procedures and flow and revise processes as necessary to bring about cost reductions and quality improvements.
- Assure implemented production changes to the assembly process are properly documented and "Routers" are updated.
- Research and resolve all quality issues pertaining to the Assembly Department and effectively implement necessary changes as required.
- Evaluate, select and prepare recommendations for capital equipment purchases relating to the associated manufacturing department.
- Support the methods improvement suggestion program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**:
In accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, directly supervises 10 - 20 employees in the associated manufacturing department.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; scheduling vacations and promoting methods improvement suggestions.

**Education and/or Experience**:
Technical College diploma or equivalent plus 3 - 5 years specialized training and experience in precision sheet metal fabricating and equipment. Knowledgeable in the safe operation of welders, lift trucks and material handling devices; must be able to interpret detailed engineering drawings.

**Language Skills**:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations in addition to documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization, read and develop engineering blue prints into shop floor work sketches. Good practical experience of factory rules, bill or material structure, labour and safety regulations and process layouts.

**Mathematical Skills**:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions into practical situations.

**Reasoning Ability**:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of Occupational Health and Safety Act and legal safety polices in written or diagram form and solve problems under a variety of circumstances.

**Other Skills and Abilities**:
Ability to work independently. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Good working knowledge and ability to use Microsoft office, Word, and spreadsheet software; knowledge of computer operation; including local network server administration. Ability to give presentations to large group of people and interact with all levels of organization. Demonstrated ability to negotiate simple and complex contracts. Demonstrated successful skills in leadership/management role.
