**Job Purpose**:
The Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Program Coordinator is responsible for the provision of Indigenous culture based community services focused exclusively on the engagement of Indigenous men and male youth committed to ending all forms of violence perpetrated against Indigenous women and girls.

**Education**:

- Relevant Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in the area, such as Indigenous Studies, Social Service Work or a related field and/or relevant work experience

**Experience/Qualifications**:

- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare and the impacts of trauma
- Understanding of Indigenous male and youth engagement models of practice, community engagement methodology, event coordination and program facilitation approaches
- Knowledge and experience working with justice system involved Indigenous men and male youth
- Previous work experience within an Indigenous organization or community
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Previous data base reporting and case file management is an asset (training will be provided)
- Own vehicle and possess valid driver's license

**Overall Responsibilities**:

- Provide Indigenous culture based one-on-one counselling and group activities to support men and male youth who are committed to ending violence against Indigenous women and girls
- Establish an environment in which men and youth-aged males examine their own behaviours and collectively contribute to ending violence against Indigenous women and girls
- Provide Indigenous culture-based men's programming that is designed and promotes healing, skill-building and the practice of alternative options or dispute resolution rather than the use of violence
- Facilitation of programming within correctional institutions and the provision of reintegration support for men and youth-aged males involved within various stages of the criminal justice system.
- To establish relationships with local community service providers in support of increasing referral options for program participants
- Networking to ensure a well maintained list of credible Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers for the purposes of ceremonial and traditional healing supports for urban Indigenous children, youth and families

The Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre (CAIFC) is an Indigenous non-profit, service delivery organization. As such, following the **Employment Equity Act, 1993 **and the **Aboriginal Employment Preferences Policy** according to the Canadian Human Rights Commission, Centre will give preference to hire Indigenous Peoples unless that preference or employment would constitute a discriminatory practice under the **Human Rights Act**.
