**Hourly Wage**:$29.50/hr. - $ 36.08/hr.
**Hours of Work**:Rotating shifts, 12 hours in duration, in a 24/7 environment (includes days, afternoons, nights, weekends and holidays)

**Summary of Duties**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Receive incoming 9-1-1 calls and process requests for emergency and non-emergency medical services and fire response
- Provide callers with pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions specific to their emergency; includes telephone-assisted Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), childbirth, First Aid, EpiPen administration, choking intervention
- Direct and coordinate deployment of ambulance and fire unit services using public safety radio system equipment
- Determine call location, document caller information, and establish incident details
- Allocate resources according to dispatch priority index and operating policies and procedures
- Operate complex computer-aided dispatch (CAD) telecommunications software

**Qualifications/Skills**
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Completion of Secondary School is required
- Basic computer skills, including technical competency in keyboarding and data entry
- Understanding of spatial concepts (ie. reading maps, calculating times, distance and movement)
- Explicit and tactful written and verbal communication
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to maintain control under pressure and work at a fast pace in an unpredictable environment
- Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking
- Make sound, independent decisions using professional judgement in accordance with local operating procedures and policy criteria
- Exercise discretion during emergency/difficult/stressful situations
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and stakeholders (EMS, Police, Fire, Hospitals, Ornge etc.)

**Requirements**:

- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
- Successful completion of all training requirements including a 5-week ACO Provincial Certification, local 9-1-1 call taker and dispatcher training, and a Restricted Radio Operator Certification
- Evidence of receiving the full series of a COVID-19 vaccination or combination of COVID-19 vaccines approved by Health Canada (e.g. two doses or a two-dose vaccine series, or one dose of a single-dose vaccine series); AND have received the final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days ago
