Victoria, Canada 'GOOD' Company Full time

I am a 51 year old, married, young at heart, quadriplegic male who suffered a spinal cord injury at work 30 years ago. I require care 7 days a week, 365 days per year. I employ several caregivers to fill all the shifts. You will be working in a respectful atmosphere where your loyalty and attention to detail will be greatly valued and appreciated. Care location is a private home with overhead lift, hospital bed, etc.

Any successful applicant will be given paid training specific to my needs. Note: The training time will allow you to demonstrate as well as develop your skills and abilities to provide care and your employment will move from probationary to permanent after 3 months of satisfactory work.

**This ad is for a regular part time position, every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. These are regular, recurring shifts that you would be expected to work each week.**

**Depending on how much interest is shown I am open to splitting this into two jobs - one for Saturday and one for Sunday (this would then be 5 hours per week per job.) It would be beneficial to me to find someone who is willing/available to fill in for other shifts when needed as well.** Other shifts that will come up from time to time are Monday-Friday Day shift (8:00 am - 1:00 pm) and Monday - Sunday evening shifts (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm.) The 2 hour evening shift is paid out at 2.5 hours. Potential availability for extra shifts when they come up is greatly valued.

Your hourly wage is competitive and dependent on level of experience. You will also receive a wage top up of 6% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation, added to your regular pay rate. You will be covered by WorkSafeBC and will pay into EI and CPP. There are 12 paid stat days throughout the year, some of which will fall on a weekend.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Medication administration
- gentle range of motion exercises/stretching
- bowel care
- shower
- dressing
- indwelling catheter care
- overhead lift transfers to/from bed,wheelchair & commode
- assist with oral care; grooming
- light meal prep & clean up
- light housekeeping; laundry.

Must haves:

- Ability to follow verbal directions well.
- Caring, respectful individual with strong work ethic.
- Proof of clean criminal record (RCMP certified criminal record check)
- Certificate from a recognized care aide program and/or experience providing care to people with spinal cord injury or similar issues.
