Landscape Lead Hand

SeeMoreGreen is looking for **Landscape Lead Hands** that assist in performing and coordinating the completion of landscape maintenance projects, optimizing time, manpower and co-ordination of site requirements. We are located about a 5-minute drive south of Saskatoon, so reliable transportation is a requirement of the position.
**About the role**:
Landscape Lead Hands assist the Landscape Foreman/Crew Leader in performing and coordinating landscape maintenance, accept responsibility when delegated, and follow procedures and policies set out by the Forman/Crew Leader and the company. As Lead Hand your job is, but not limited to assisting in optimizing time, manpower and co-ordination of site requirements i.e.: materials, schedule and completion of tasks. As a leader you will work towards achieving goals and obtain necessary qualifications to adapt, maintain and advance to delivering better outcomes and results.
**What you will do**:
- Leading and assisting with lawn care maintenance and landscape work on both residential and commercial jobsites.
- Effectively working well with others and with a team attitude, as well as, ensuring all others on sites are following company policies, procedures and operating in a safe manner.
- Give and receive direction through static noise (Static noise is all the distractions of a job site, equipment, saws, other people and distractions)
- Using effective time management skills for work completion and relate them to everyday duties.
- Involved with decision-making, accountability, delegation to other landscape field workers on site, and execution of tasks with the ability to follow through with decisions involving effective direction, manpower utilization, guidance and supervision of all junior staff.
- Understanding cost of manpower, materials and equipment and managing these resources effectively.
- Effectively handling and submittal of all paperwork required by management and administration.
- Equipment operation and preventative maintenance - mechanically inclined with ability to diagnose potential hazards and or preventative damage, checking fluids and completing paperwork involved with vehicle maintenance.
- Monitoring normal “wear and tear” on the vehicle or equipment, safe operation of equipment and vehicles, familiarize other junior staff with proper equipment operation and taking the time to training them on the equipment if they are unfamiliar.
- Possesses the ability and patience to properly train and use guidance with workers.
- Leadership skills and ability to follow orders from superiors and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner as a company leader and as a team player.
- Working towards goals set by employer and employee, obtaining required tickets, certificates and classes as the positions require.
- Ability to adapt to your surroundings and be willing to accept challenges you may be faced with from a personal and professional standpoint.
- Plan and manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers including all daily equipment, and materials required to complete daily objectives.
- Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chain saws, and snow blowers.
- Assist in completing tasks such as cutting grass, trimming edges, raking, cleaning up refuse, blowing trimmings, planting, weeding, mulching, sweeping, fertilizing and watering turf areas and performing other lawn care duties.
- Move and install soil, mulch, and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas.
**What you will bring**:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the landscape industry.
- Ability to work with power/hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials.
- Physically fit with good stamina.
- Ability to follow safe working procedures.
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team.
- Speak, read, and write English.
- Flexibility in working hours including occasional weekend work due to weather and job schedules.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with Reliable transportation to and from work sites.
- Personal smartphone with data plan for daily attendance marking, communication, and reporting.
**Work Conditions**:
- Various locations including both residential and commercial landscape construction sites.
- Working near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
- Working outdoors in various conditions including cold, heat and humidity, rain, dust, and noise.
- Working flexible hours including occasional weekend work, stat holidays, and out-of-town work where required.
