It’s time to expand our team We are looking for a dedicated individual who sees a future in dog training for themselves.
Here at canine blueprint we deal with dogs who are experiencing deep levels of fear & can be dangerous at times. This position needs a calm & kind person who has the patience to handle dogs who need time to warm up to new humans.
Ideally we would like someone with a background in animal care, dog training or dog daycare. Knowledge of how to handle dogs is key for success in this position.
- Use reward-based training methods.

- Conduct physical training exercises, such as walking, running, and swimming.
- Train animals using verbal commands, hand signals, and clickers.

You will be required to provide daily care for boarded dogs and assist with kennel maintenance. You will be involved with checking in and out boarding appointments, cleaning cages and runs, bathing, grooming, exercising, feeding, and administering medication, as well as monitoring the behaviour of boarded dogs.
- Training while interacting with the dogs is required.
- You also must be prepared to handle dogs that may be stressed due to being in an unfamiliar environment.
- Work is normally performed both inside and outside all year round.
- Dog handlers work under the direct supervision of our kennel manager.

Job tasks:

- Interact with boarded dogs several times a day according to kennel protocol to provide exercise, training and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
- Bathe, groom, train and provide affection to boarded dogs
- Feed dogs
- Provide clean drinking water at all times
- Check in and out dogs
- Inventory all items that come in with boarding dogs
- Ensure dogs being checked out have all of their belongings
- Ensure that dogs are clean and fresh smelling prior to check out.
- Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odours are not apparent.
- Perform general cleaning in other areas of the kennel to prevent exposure to disease.
- Attend in-home lessons as needed by the head trainer.
- Impulse control - waiting to go out doors and for food
- Sit before affection is given
- Practice place, eye contact, and stay as often as you can when interacting with the dogs
- You will be asked to do training sessions with the dogs after 3 months of probationary on the job training

**Salary**: $15.00-$17.00 per hour
