Plant Pathology Technician

Responsibilities:

- Prepare various plant disease inoculum for field/greenhouse inoculation.
- Prepare various culture media.
- Perform sub-culturing fungal pathogens using aseptic techniques.
- Collect plant materials for pathogen isolation.
- Perform pathogenicity test of various fungal pathogens
- Source plant pathogens for field inoculation.
- Perform plant disease identification and pest resistance screening test
- Operate various equipment which include but not limited to autoclave, laminar flow hood, incubator and microscope.
- Prepare and/or order supplies
- Maintain lab cleanliness which include but not limited to washing glassware and chemical jars, sweeping, mopping and waste disposal

Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science degree or Associate Diploma in Plant Pathology, Crop/Plant Science, Microbiology or a related field
- Experience with aseptic technique, culture preparation and plant pathogen production.
- PC skills using MS Office products (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Strong organizational, planning, detail focus and innovation skills

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
