EIPS is recruiting a permanent full-time Library Technician at Ardrossan Junior Senior High.

Ardrossan Junior Senior High is a grades 7-12 school with approximately 860 students, 43

teaching staff, and 20 support staff. The school is located in the town of Ardrossan,

Alberta approximately 10 minutes east of Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Our school offers students a wide variety of opportunities to make student programs

challenging and interesting. As we are a combined junior/senior high school, our staff and

administration get to know our students very well during their years at Ardrossan. There is

a strong sense of "family" at our school.

Commencing August 29, 2023

30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day)

Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be given to permanent employees

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High School Diploma

Library Technician Diploma (2 years) or equivalent education

Minimum of one-year related experience

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

Strong oral and written communication skills including library advocacy

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong organizational skills and time management skills to support students

Experience tracking and maintaining a library budget

Reliability and dependability

Comfort and competency working with personal computers and other technologies to support student learning

Ability to respect and value all individuals with sensitivity to diversity

Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours of students

Ability to effectively utilize crisis intervention strategies

Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work assignments

Knowledge of general library operations along with a knowledge of various specific routines and practices that are common to all libraries.

Knowledge of library automation systems and the ability to learn new systems and software programs

Knowledge of computers in a networked environment

Knowledge of website layout and design

Knowledge of general office equipment

Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on audio-visual equipment

The ability to maintain consistent routines and practices with attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to take direction as well as be self-motivated and work independently
