**Job Summary**

The Golf Course Superintendent is a working manager and is accountable for all the day to day maintenance of the Golf Course and associated facilities, in an efficient manner that fully utilizes the equipment resources and maintains the integrity of the corporate mission statement. Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in golf course building and grounds maintenance. Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs. Working knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment. A golf course superintendent is entrusted with the development and maintenance of the golf course to ensure an excellent standard of play. The position is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all areas of a golf course including maintenance buildings, property and equipment repair shop (this includes the golf carts, driving range, etc.) Snow removal and other duties as required.

**General Responsibilities**:

- The maintenance of the golf course, including the cutting of greens, fairways, and all other day to day activities, in order to ensure and acceptable level of service retaining a mínimal amount of staff resources. (65% of time)
- Responsible for management of all normal superintendent functions, purchasing, maintaining proper inventory levels and completion of all paperwork required for this position. Ensure that members, their guests, and other users achieve a positive golf experience by ensuring that all greens staff does not interfere with the play of the customer. (20% of time)
- The employment, training, supervising, health and safety, development, direction and discharge of all greens staff. Training of all current and new greens staff and scheduling of same. (10% of time)
- Attending regular management meetings including the development of long range plans and the development, preparing and maintaining of financial budgets to achieve and reach established CCGC objectives. (5% of time)

**Specific Responsibilities**:

- Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data, reports and recommendations; coordinates department activities with other departments as needed.
- Assures that assigned areas of responsibilities are performed within budget; performs cost control activities; monitors expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; prepares annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
- Design and write specifications for minor development work, renovations, and equipment and material needs.
- Purchase and inventory supplies, materials, equipment, and tools for the greens of the Golf Course.
- Supervises, train golf course greens employees: Provides necessary supervision, direction, and assistance to greens crews. Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments. Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff, and reviews progress and directs changes as needed. Lays out daily work schedules and assigns tasks to appropriate individuals, crews, or combination of crews, and coordinates the completion of the same.

for the golfer.
- Develops golf course maintenance and operating procedures and methods within limits of departmental policies and procedures.
- Enforces policies, regulations, and safety and health standards.
- Determines, calculates and secures the appropriate materials and supplies for a specific project.
- Inspects golf course maintenance and improvement services provided by contractors or vendors for compliance with performance standards.
- Assists in the preparation of specifications, estimates, and bids for machinery, equipment, and contractor services.
- Assures that tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept in proper working condition.
- Oversees and assists in the mowing and maintenance of golf course fairways, rough, greens, tee area, and other open space areas; oversees and assists in the maintenance of sprinkler systems and the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and head.
- Oversees the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering and the pest and weed control of the golf course.
- Assists in the construction of new facilities, including clearing, grading, drainage, and foundation work.
- Snow Removal (plowing, clearing paths of snow, etc.) and salt distribution as required in off season.
- Works in a manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the health and safety act and regulations and wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be worn.
