**On call - Hours between 9am and 5pm**
- Job SummaryThe Houseworker provides exceptional service to summer conference guests and residence students by performing a variety of duties quickly, efficiently and safely, and necessary for the daily upkeep of residential buildings. This, includes bed-making; guest-room linen refresh and waste-removal; and moving, laundering and storing linen and other items.

The Houseworker develops and maintains positive relationships with guests, students and staff by providing quality customer service. This includes but is not limited to responding to requests and providing information and referrals.

The Houseworker also assists in maintaining safety and security of residence buildings and guests by communicating maintenance issues in a timely manner, and reporting emergency issues to the appropriate personnel.

- Good physical health
- Ability to read and understand written text and follow written and oral directions
- Proven service skills in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with students, staff and guests
- Proven ability to pay attention to detail
- Experience working in a team environment
- Knowledge of UVIC residences buildings an asset
- Some hospitality or housekeeping experience an asset
