**Position Summary**

The Student at Law position will include tasks which include but are not limited to: legal research, drafting correspondence and pleadings, client management, and attending Court.

Expected start date: April 12, 2023

**Responsibilities**
- Legal Research - Conducts extensive legal research and analysis on a variety of matters with the primary focus being Family Law, Civil Law, and Child Protection Law. Provides analysis based on their findings.
- Scheduling meetings - Calls clients to schedule meetings to discuss details of their cases. Gather information on the lawyer’s behalf and provide updates on the matter.
- Drafting - drafts correspondence, court documents including pleadings, motion materials, and other legal documents.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.

**Position Qualifications**

Education: Please submit law school transcript, along with cover letter and resume.

Experience: Recent and relevant experience in family law, civil law, and child protection law will be considered an asset but not required.

Language: Proficiency in English both in oral and written communications is required. Proficiency in other languages will be considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Strong analytical skills to assess the applicability of legal principles and relevance of evidence.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare a variety of materials including, letters and memos of law.
- Strong research skills.

The Student-at-Law will work under the direction of the Partners and Associate Lawyers who will provide advice, guidance and support to the Student.
