**Business Systems Consultant**

The Data & Analytics (D&A) team is a global team that enables Sun Life to be a data-driven organization by making relevant, timely and trusted data easily and securely available. The D&A team is looking for a **Business Systems Consultant** who can combine expert analysis skills, a strong technical aptitude, a strategic mindset, diplomatic facilitation, and leadership skills to elicit and build requirements that enable exceptional solutions. The Business Systems Consultant would join our Client Experience Platform which provides world class interactions for our Clients, Advisors, and Partners. The Platform delivers data and analytic services through approaches such as streaming, APIs, micro-services (containerization), and cloud services.

**What will you do?**
- Delivery of BSA project artefacts, such as functional and non-functional requirements, Visio diagrams, gap analysis, business data mapping documents, etc.
- Conduct needs analysis, write user stories, collaborate with others for system design; and support teams/squads to increase productivity and reduce costs.
- Elicit, document, examine and manage business requirements on projects by following the current company development methodology. This involves managing business requirements sessions, conducting interviews, and accessing existing documentation.
- Lead and attend meetings with both business partners and project team members, presenting findings and holding review sessions, collaborating with project team including other BSAs and Leads.
- Facilitate the identification of business and IT process improvements, system design, testing and implementation of solutions
- Analyze and document how systems, processes, procedures, and clients will be impacted by future development
- Work with the Scrum Master/Product Owner to conduct analysis on business requests with a focus on the links between processes and systems throughout the organization
- Engage IT resources such as architects, designers, developers, and the testing team as appropriate
- Create and/or provide input into internal and external communications and user documentation
- Support testing with a focus on end-to-end validation
- Utilize team collaboration to create innovative solutions efficiently

**What do you need to succeed?**
- University degree in Business or Information Technology or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Business Systems Consultant
- Experience in all phases of a project life cycle, including proficiency with various requirements elicitation techniques
- Proven capability within the Agile Framework, lean iterative, and process improvement methodology
- Strong analytical skills and comfortable with data requirements and related data analysis activities using excel and/or SQL
- Superior communication skills with ability to communicate both complex business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions
- Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply
- Strong interpersonal / relationship building skills with technical and business partners
- Ability to synthesize abstract/complex concepts and ideas into simple, understandable, user-driven requirements and user stories
- A desire to embrace a culture of trust and complete transparency, and ability to deal well with ambiguity
- Open to learning new ideas outside scope or knowledge skillset
- Ability to act in an advisory capacity as well as coach/mentor Business Analysts
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to bring opinions, comments, and thoughts forward
- Skilled in best practices to drive discussions and manage business meetings to meet objectives
- Ability to think strategically and understand the big picture of a situation or issue and offer alternative viable strategies

**Preferred Skills/Assets**:

- Deep knowledge of relevant technologies, processes, systems, and capabilities related to supporting a microservice architecture (ex. REST APIs, web services, etc.)
