Municipal Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement

As a Municipal Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, you will manage and implement all aspects of files through Federal and Municipal land use approval processes including public consultation and permitting (if required), on behalf of various customers in the dynamic telecommunications, EV charging and battery storage industries. The primary focus is to appropriately progress the municipal approval initiatives with various stakeholders such as landowners, land use authorities and government agencies, as well as organizing and facilitating all project activities under the direction of the Vice President, Telecommunications and Network Development.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- **Strategic Planning**: Collaborate with internal and external team members, conduct risk and process assessments, and create strategic plans to ensure regulatory compliance on proposed facilities. Stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices related to permitting, public engagement and to telecommunications networks, EV charging and battery storage industries.
- **Compliance Management**: Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, timelines and internal policies in the administration of permitting, environmental compliance, and land use regulations. Ensure up to date local, provincial, and federal land use regulations, environmental laws, and any other third-party frameworks that impact our operations are followed. This role will involve implementing project compliance strategies, monitoring adherence, and taking corrective actions as necessary.
- **Data Management**: Manage land administration and project databases and software systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity for reporting and analysis. This includes ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data, as well as implementing best practices for data security. A well-organized and up-to-date database will facilitate reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
- **Reporting**: Prepare regular reports for senior management and customers, summarizing the status of project budgets, resource allocations, when necessary, project status and compliance issues. You will prepare regular reports summarizing key information, potential risks, and recommended actions. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders will be crucial.
- **Safety**:Take reasonable care and action to protect your safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions. Ensure proper use of safety equipment, clothing, and devices. Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses. Comply with LandSolutions policies and procedures, applicable laws, and the OH & S Act. Ensure trip planners are complete for yourself.
**Additional Responsibilities**:
- Actively participate in industry networking events.
- Other related duties as required.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Stakeholder Engagement, Communications, Regulatory and Municipal Affairs or related role.
- Post-secondary education in Land, Business, Urban Planning, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Familiarity with process, protocol and regulations pertaining to telecommunications (wireless and/or wireline) and EV charging or battery storage facilities, related public consultation, and Indigenous people’s consultation.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory guidelines and governing Acts pertaining to the Canadian Telecommunications sector including ISED CPC-2-0-03-i6.
- Strong working knowledge of MS SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience with GPS, Google Earth, and graphics software.
- Robust business acumen and proven ability to implement and maintain effective business practices.
- Ability to work under deadlines and time constraints, and outside of regular business hours if required.
- Ability to travel within Canada, when required.
