Job Title**: Forklift Operator - Shipping**
Shift: Days / Afternoons
Reports to**:Shipping Supervisor(s)
Department: Shipping

Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, this position will be responsible for co-ordinating the accurate fulfillment of customer orders, in accordance with all Dairy procedures, safety and health regulations.

**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving warehouse items.
- Transporting materials to different locations within the facility.
- Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency.
- Securing loads transportation.
- Inspecting for damages to vehicles.
- Operating and managing technical equipment.
- Managing inventory by utilizing RF scanning equipment.
- Picking and wrapping orders for shipment.
- Identifying workplace safety hazards.
- Adhering to safety management standards.
- Adhering to production schedules
- Actively learn how to complete paperwork required in Shipping. Understand controlled documents.

**Additional Duties**
- Assist in equipment changeovers, set up or tear down machinery as required on shipping production lines.
- Assisting with overseeing the boxing and skidding of product on the shipping production lines.
- Understand, and be able to fulfill, all customers’ pallet patterns and stacking requests.
- Communicate effectively with Supervisors, Lead Hands and other employees.
- Maintain excellent communication between all team members.
- Work in an efficient, timely, safe and productive manner at all times.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities including training of others.
- Any other duties as required.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**
- Proven ability to work safely.
- Ability to read and understand packaging, shipping documents, and safety guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, and spatial awareness.
- Efficient individual with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of basic tools and vehicle maintenance a plus.
- Flexibility of hours when necessary.
- Some work on statutory holidays and / or weekends.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.

**MINIMUM CRITERIA**
- Clean safety record.
- Forklift or heavy machinery certification.
- Prior experience as a forklift operator.
- Must have good attendance.
- Attention to detail.
- Must be able to follow SOP, GMP and complete forms accurately.
- Must have a good and positive attitude towards change and other employees.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Able to work in a team environment.
