**About Our Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director, Image Services, as the Visual Library Technician Intern you will support the coordination and maintenance of CNS’ visual library, an online image database of government photographs. Through this role, you will coordinate the maintenance of the visual library including editing, tagging and uploading images. You will decide on the addition/deletion of images in accordance with the needs of Government, while being mindful of copyright and protection of privacy legislation, as well as Government's Code of Conduct and industry standards, In collaboration with the Image Services team, you will research and test online gallery tools for enhancing the visual library platform. You will also have management of the central photo library archive for Government

**Primary Accountabilities**:

- Create and enforce metadata and captioning guidelines
- Create guidelines and terms and conditions for a curated, representative image database for CNS staff
- Guide the process of moving CNS toward an agency approach to digital asset management, one that includes protecting and preserving Nova Scotia’s image and video assets
- Transfer older images and metadata to a designated archive
- Compile, organize, and digitize all past consent forms
- Use Microsoft Forms or comparable tool to develop a digital consent form

The Visual Library Technician Intern serves as the main liaison with staff and vendor photographers for managing the digital coordination of new government images.

**About You**:
Graduation from a post-secondary institution, with a Library Sciences or related field of study, within the last three years is mandatory.

To be successful within this role, you will also:

- Have experience with digital database(s) and digital asset management
- Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrate the ability to multi-task to meet priorities and constant pressure of deadlines
- Possess strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Have a proven ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Be client-focused, with strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
- Have the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Possess strong problem-solving ability

**Assets**:

- Experience with digital asset software
- Knowledge or experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs
