Cheam Enterprises (CEI) is a community-owned business entity that aims to increase participation in the local mainstream economy within the Cheam traditional territory. CEI is actively working to progress community-driven and owned economic development and growth for the betterment of all Cheam people for today and for future generations.
CEI has a mandate from the community to increase revenues and employment opportunities for the membership. The company has numerous partnerships in place, across a variety of industry sectors, exploring sustainable growth and development opportunities in the traditional territory of the Cheam First Nation.

**Our Territory**
The name Cheam means “wild strawberry place”. This describes a place near the Cheam First Nation where wild strawberries have always been known to grow. The Xwchíyò:m (Cheam) have lived in S’ólh Téméxw (Our Land) for thousands of years in what is now known as the Rosedale area in the Upper
Fraser Valley region of British Columbia, Canada. Cheam First Nation borders both the north and south banks of the Fraser River and Cheam Mountain faces
Cheam First Nation. Our reserved lands are home to 354 people with another
200 off Reserve.
Since time immemorial, the Cheam people have existed as a group of families within the people of the Pelólxw (Pilalt) Tribe. The Pelólxw tribe share customs and interests with other Coast Salish tribes. According to Coast Salish concepts of land tenure and territoriality, the water, land, air and resources of S’ólh Téméxw are their birthright.
Cheam Enterprises Inc. is wholley owned by Cheam First Nation. CEI is actively working to progress community driven and owned economic development and growth for the betterment of all Cheam people, including future generations.

**Financial Controller**

The Financial Controller will be part of a _“Leadership Team”_ who will advise the team on current financial standings, issues and recommendations for improvements. The Leadership Team is made up of the Chief Executive Officer,
(Sam Minde) Director of Operations (Marg Schulz), Financial Controller ( Position
Posted) and the Director of Business Development (vacant), in addition, CEI will appoint special working committees aimed at new business development opportunities and you will be needed to participate and advise on the financial support and implementation of new businesses created.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Planning, directing and co ordinating all accounting and operational functions
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
- Coordinating activities of external auditors
- Providing management with information vital to the decision making process.
- Managing the annual budgeting and budget performance tracking
- Accessing the current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting data base as needed
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
- Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
- Provide the CEO and Board of Directors all relevant financial reporting and tracking
