**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Team Leader, Support and Community Services manages operations and staff providing leadership in the delivery of pre and post analytical laboratory services at designated sites and facilities within VIHA. Continually assesses the quality of the service, setting into motion improvement measures to provide quality customer service; ensures compliance with legislative regulations, collective agreement provisions and organizational policy; directs assigned resources, recruits and supervises staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a university degree in Medical Laboratory Science and five (5) years' laboratory experience with two years in a supervisory or management role.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Demonstrated understanding of the Laboratory principles, procedures, and workflow.
- Effective meeting management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with technical, operational, and vendor staff.
- Knowledge and practice in effective problem solving techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self motivated, able to work with mínimal direct supervision with excellent leadership and organizational qualities.
- Able to work as part of a multi-functional team.
