**Description**:
Under the authority of the Manager - Arena and Sports Facilities, the Skate Patroller ensures that a safe environment is offered to participants of public skating by supervising during the designated ice time.

**Departmental mission**:
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

**General responsibilities and goals**:
The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:

- Place cones on the red line in order to offer young children a safe area to skate as well as place cones around the center area of the rink to limit the passage through the center;
- Place EZ gliders in the area designated for young children that are learning to skate;
- Has contact with the skaters and oversees the safety aspect during public skating;
- Must maintain control of the skaters at all times and must ensure the skaters are skating in the same direction;
- Must skate alone, be visible and observant at all times;
- Ensures that people leave the skating ring when public skating is buzzed off;
- Removes the EZ gliders and cones in order for the Zamboni to resurface the ice.

**Job requirements**:

- Responsible and autonomous
- Good skater
- Able to communicate with ease with the public
- Bilingual (French and English)

**Schedule**:
Variable - Possible schedule:
Monday from 6:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Wednesday from 8:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Friday from 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
