We are currently seeking a **Design Draftsperson** to join our Engineering Team at our Goderich Salt Mine site in Goderich, Ontario. This is not a fly in / fly out position.

The Goderich Mine is located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron on the shores of Goderich, Ontario. It is the largest underground salt mine in the world and has been operating since 1959. This location employs over 500 people and annually produces 6.5 million tons of highway de-icing salt and chemical salt. It is transports product to customers around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway via vessel, rail and roads. The salt is also used to make plastics, detergents, disinfectants, and other important products.

Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1 ½ hour from London & Stratford, Ontario and a 1 ½ hour drive from Kitchener-Waterloo.

**How will you contribute to the team?**
- Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for custom projects.
- Provide technical assistance to the maintenance department for mechanical and/or structural components.
- Perform site measurements.
- Understand and support in the development of company design standards and procedures.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with industrial systems is preferred.
- Employ project management techniques to manage projects from concept through implementation.
- Interpret technical drawings.
- Perform material take offs.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

**You bring to the role**:

- Diploma in mechanical or civil engineering technician/technology.
- 1-3 years’ experience as a drafter in a heavy industrial environment.
- Detail oriented with the ability to read construction drawings (architectural, structural, mechanical).
- Computer literacy in a Windows 10 environment, using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Strength in mechanical and/or structural engineering drafting for equipment layouts, piping design, and parts fabrication using AutoCAD and/or Solidworks.
- Ability to understand specifications and clearly communicate with vendors of mining and process related equipment, working knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Ability to take accurate field measurements,
- Organizational skills with respect to document control systems for drawings and projects.

**How Often Are You Here?**
- Monday-Friday; 8 hours per day. Overtime as required.
- This position may be required to work underground as needed.
- If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate. Relocation package available to those that qualify.
