Responsible for the manufacturing, repair, maintenance and improvement of all tooling fixtures and gauges for CNC equipment, welding and inspection in line with production and customer requirements to support business objectives. Support new tooling for new product development to ensure the robustness of product repairs. Work on many phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting on project completion. Work under general supervision, reviewed at project milestones and/or on completion by Engineering.

**Typical Duties Include (but are not limited to)**:

- Manufacture new tooling, repair and maintain existing tools to support production activity and customer deadlines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions in order to program, setup, and operate both conventional and 3 or 5 axis CNC machine tools to produce tight tolerance tooling parts to specifications.
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out tooling work pieces to ensure machining activities result in products conforming to all requirements outlined in drawings and work instructions issued.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances utilizing different verification tools including calipers, micrometers, sizing blocks and/or gauges
- Operate and maintain a variety of conventional and CNC machine tools, e.g. boring machines, milling machines, lathes, sawing machines, automatic lathes, and/or drilling machines, as required
- Work and liaise with a range of internal departments and external suppliers, utilising good effective communication across all functions
- Support new project tooling from commissioning stages through to start of production
- Record all relevant data in relation to tooling and record on the Tool Room database
- Undertake special projects as required
- Be actively involved in improvement activities to support the achievement of departmental and company objectives
- Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends regarding tool making
- Take ownership of smaller less complex specific tool suite to develop and maintain performance with mínimal supervision
- Keep machines and surrounding work space clean while maintaining a safe organized work environment
- Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with the Liburdi ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- Required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and Manager.
- **Key Skill Requirements**:_
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with GD&T & specifications
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Capable of performing within tight tolerances (+/-0.0005”)
- Ability to function both independently and in a team environment.
- Understanding manufacturing processes

- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and work standards
- **Key Education Requirements**:_
- Tool & Die trade certificate with 3 - 5 years experience building New Tooling
- Experience with CAD/CAM software is an asset
- Experience operating EDM Machines is an asset
- Practical hands-on approach to problem solving
- Experience of working to tight production targets
- Knowledge of machinery in the tool room and flexible in using it
- Experience in implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and understanding of 5S principles is an asset
