BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking individuals interested in the following position(s):

Position(s) Available: One (1)
Status: Full-Time contract (37.5 hours per week)
Salary Range: $60, 013 -$66, 244 annually

The key responsibilities of this position will include:_**
- Provide support and monitor high-risk youth referrals to ensure that children and youth are in safe, constructive relationships that are having a positive impact.
- Oversee the registration, intentional programming, volunteer involvement and referral of children and youth to the most appropriate program and/or provide external resources.
- Provide support to youth who have experienced challenges involving marginalization, addictions and circumstances that have required the youth justice system involvement.
- Support the creation and fostering of constructive, strength-based and satisfying relationships between children, youth and volunteers.
- Build and nurture strong community partnerships with organizations that aide in the engagement of youth including youth-based agencies, schools, and Edmonton Police that support youth referred to Diversion First.
- Maintain working knowledge of all agency programs that are available to youth to make internal referrals based on the assessment made.
- Provide resources and information to the team related to working youth at risk, youth employment, and programming using dedicated strategies
- Oversee the team in their support of the children and youth in the programs including providing opportunity to debrief and problem solve issues and needs.
- Maintain up-to-date electronic casework notes, statistics and other required reporting in compliance with relevant standards, policies and processes.
- A degree or diploma in the areas of youth development, criminology and/or social work.
- A minimum of 5 years’ combined experience in a role involved with youth programming, case management, volunteer management and partnership development.
- Prior experience working with indigenous communities, high risk youth and/or the youth justice system.
- An understanding of indigenous practices and awareness of these resources for young people.
- Knowledge of resources and programs supporting families in the city and surrounding areas is an asset.
- Demonstrated good communication skills (both written and oral)
- Ability to exercise good judgement and sound decision making.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in working with youth.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with availability to provide evening on site support as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle.
