DESCRIPTION*
Log loading occurs at many stages as logs are transported from the forest to the mills. These operations are currently performed by human operators on various loaders along the supply chain. FPI aims to automate log loading with a crane test bed as a proof of concept. The intern will assist FPInnovations engineers in various aspects of developing autonomous log loading machines.

RESPONSIBILITIES*
1. Development of a digital twin of a log pile to be presented to the operator
2. Assisted in conducting log loading experiments with a crane test rig
3. Development of the autonomy "pipeline" decision system on the test bench
4. Integration of additional sensors on the crane test bed
5. Use of camera and lidar to increase environmental perception capabilities as the log loading operation progresses
6. Adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS*
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate University program in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering,
