Detailed Overview: Under the general supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor, performs maintenance and repair duties related to equipment, buildings and grounds. Responsibilities:

- Identifies the nature of the malfunction and performs repairs on equipment such as: electric beds, wheelchairs, patient lifts, carts, small appliances, floor polishers by disassembling motors and equipment, cleaning, oiling, replacing defective parts, adjusting, calibrating, reassembling, and checking for safe operation.
- Performs maintenance on equipment by disassembling equipment, cleaning, oiling, greasing, and replacing items such as filters and reassembling equipment as required.
- Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment, recommends repairs and purchases as required.
- Performs safety checks on new equipment, completing records as required.
- Assists journeyman as required.
- Performs grounds maintenance using equipment such as a power mower; digs holes, prunes and provides basic care of shrubs and trees as directed; cleans roofs, gutters and drains; picks up garbage.
- Assists in maintaining grounds and parking lots in winter by removing snow and ice. Operates tractor and applies salt and sand to sidewalks and roadways.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
**Education and Experience**

Grade 10, plus two years' recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to organize work.
