POSITION OVERVIEW/
The Product Manager (Hardware), reporting to the Chief Technology Officer will lead the development, launch, and ongoing optimization of hardware products. The role will be an individual contributor role and have no direct reports; however, will have full support of a squad of engineers to help in execution. It requires a strong understanding of both hardware and software integration, as well as cross-functional coordination with engineering, design, manufacturing, and marketing teams. This position is key to ensuring that hardware products meet customer expectations, business goals, and deliver value in the market.
RESPONSIBILITIES/
- Define the product roadmap, aligning product goals with company strategy and market opportunities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify customer needs, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in hardware technologies.
- Prioritize features, functionalities, and product releases based on customer impact, business goals, and technical feasibility.
- Lead the product development process from concept through to launch and post-launch support.
- Define and track key performance metrics to evaluate the success of hardware products in the market.
- Gather and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders, and sales teams to iteratively improve the product.
- Ensure that the product adheres to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and certifications as needed.
- Work closely with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful development and delivery of hardware products.
- Act as the main liaison between internal teams (engineering, sales, operations, etc.) and external partners (suppliers, manufacturers).
- Facilitate communication and decision-making between various departments to resolve issues, manage trade-offs, and ensure timely product delivery.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for new products or enhancements to existing products.
- Work with the user experience (UX) and design teams to ensure products meet customer expectations for usability, performance, and aesthetics.
- Develop go-to-market strategies and work with the marketing team to ensure successful product launches.
- Manage product budgets, ensuring the allocation of resources for design, prototyping, testing, and production.
- Forecast and plan for future product needs based on market conditions and customer feedback.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure the product is designed and produced cost-effectively, with high quality and within timelines.
- Address any issues related to production, quality assurance, and supply chain logistics.
QUALIFICATION/
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware product management or a related technical field.
- Experience in managing the full product lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Background in working with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, manufacturing, and marketing.
- Experience with hardware development processes, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple products and initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decision-making.
- Technical knowledge of hardware design, engineering, and testing processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and certifications for hardware products.
- Experience in consumer electronics, IoT devices, or other hardware-intensive products.
- Understanding of software-hardware integration.
- Experience in a fast-paced, startup, or high-growth environment.
