**Position Overview**:
Reporting to the Supervisor/Leader, Food and Nutrition Services, the Patient Food Services Representative, using following proper food handling procedures, is responsible for the preparation and assembly of patient food trays, maintaining food stores and supplies. At this time, primarily the functions include belt line tray assembly, dish room, cart transport and other related duties as assigned. Hours of work include days, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to read and write English at a Grade 10 level or equivalent
- Previous experience in food services
- Knowledge of operation of industrial kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of food safety handling
- WHMIS training
- Experience in ware washing
- Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills promoting good customer service
- Must be able to work independently and be self-directed in a demanding, fast-paced environment, adjusting to changing priorities
- Evidence of positive team based skills
- Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
- Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
- Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
- Strong work ethic and commitment is required
- Demonstrated high standards of work outputs
- Highly punctual
- Demonstrated professionalism and reliability

**Physical Demands**:

- Sitting, standing, walking, bending
- Manual dexterity for handling equipment and supplies
- Must be able to lift up to 14kg., push and pull up to 23 kg.
- Exposure to heat and cold of the production/service/storage/ware-washing area
- Handling of cleaning and sanitizing solvents
- Exposure to loud noise of environment
