**Full-time Network and Security Administrator to join the team**:
**Position Summary**:
Working with BTS as part of the IT Infrastructure and Operations group, a highly collaborative and dynamic team of IT professionals, the Network & Security Administrator is responsible for providing operational support and ensuring the stable and secure operation of the County’s Corporate IT infrastructure.

You have a significant role in implementing, supporting, and maintaining the IT infrastructure to support business operations efficiently and effectively. This includes investigating and troubleshooting network performance issues, security incidents, analyzing network traffic, maintaining process and technical documentation, and participating in the development, deployment and optimization of systems and solutions.

This position monitors, maintains, documents, and optimizes a wide variety of network components, devices, communication links, servers, and software to ensure mínimal downtime for a high-performance, highly available, secure, and converged network.

This position requires a strong understanding of network administration, security protocols, and best practices, and contributes to excellent customer service to staff and business departments. You have strong technical skills, are detail-oriented, proactive, and have experience in managing complex systems.

This position provides after-hours emergency support on a rotational basis.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Troubleshoot and resolve IT infrastructure-related issues ensuring the availability and performance of network systems. Perform detailed and documented cause investigation, with timely and appropriate corrective action. Make recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network and communication devices, hardware, and software products.
- Liaise, coordinate, and work with clients, partners, service providers and external vendors during installations and upgrades, and to resolve issues.
- Provide verbal and written recommendations to improve system availability and administration of network infrastructure systems.
- Develop, review, and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation, procedures, and operations manuals for network installations, including data and voice systems and recommend solutions to enhance operations.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of network traffic. Identify, document, and make recommendations to improve utilization, address performance issues and meet new or changing network demands. Monitor backup and restore systems. Perform file-level restores.
- Monitor network security solutions, including firewalls, threat detection and prevention systems. Identify unauthorized access and potential security risks. Perform root cause analysis. Participate in projects to enhance network security.
- Adhere to and enforce network and security policies, processes, programs, and controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and implement network-related projects and initiatives.
- Practice network asset management including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Assist in implementing and testing business continuity plans. Maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network outages as required.
- Research and produce reports on network infrastructure and communication products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Escalate complex issues once all reasonable efforts to resolve them have been exhausted.
- Undertake ongoing professional development to keep abreast of industry standards and emerging network technologies.
- Willingness and ability to travel to various office locations within the County when required.
- Undertake additional duties which support and facilitate the above responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**:

- Completion of a three-year Information Technology program at a recognized College of Applied Arts and Technology (or equivalent); or
