**Job Description**:
Project Summary:
This SSHRC Connection Grant project aims to create a series of dynamic fieldtrips for the 2023 Adaptation Futures Conference (AF2023) where local actors will guide the international delegates attending AF2023 to see, experience, and learn about the local implications of climate change and related adaptation solutions.

Currently, AF2023 anticipates flying in 1500-2000 international delegates, researchers, decision-makers, practitioners to Montréal between October 2 to 6, 2023. It would be a missed opportunity if AF2023 participants do not interact and connect with local actors and organizations working in the Montréal area on local climate-related challenges. Thus, the visions of the projects are to create opportunities for knowledge exchange between AF2023 participants and local actors to improve adaptation solutions at local and global levels. It also seeks to address the equity and inclusive concerns about the ethics and appropriateness of international climate research and policy processes unfolding behind doors while overlooking the local realities and voices from the hosting societies. Specific project objects include:

- To design and implement approximately 8 fieldtrips with science-based content, effective facilitation, and an emphasis on joint learning (instead of solely ‘show-and-tell' approaches);
- To benefit local actors in their adaptation and climate risk management efforts by leveraging the knowledge, resources, and tacit wisdom of AF2023 participants from around the world;
- To increase visibility of local adaptation solutions by leverage the media coverage and momentum of an international event.

Primary Duties:
This RA position focuses on facilitative practices associated with the fieldtrips. The RA will also assist in project coordination and management related activities. Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the development of learning journeys to ensure that they promote experiential learning
- Developing facilitation plans for all learning journeys to ensure they are engaging and promote knowledge exchange and collaborative learning
- Supporting fieldtrip organizers in facilitating learning journeys
- Assisting in planning and facilitating the collective sense-making process with the project team members and local collaborators
- Ensuring that the daily activities undertaken on the project are in accordance with the project plans
- Coordinating internal communication and team meetings
- Assisting in coordinating the fieldtrip logistics
- Participating in project planning and monitoring meetings with collaborators

Qualifications Required (skills and abilities, education, language skills):

- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Ability to plan and lead workshops
- Skills in facilitation and the development of process tools and designs

Education/experience requirements
- Master’s degree in education, learning sciences, environmental studies, climate change, international development, or related discipline is preferred
- Experience in project coordination and/or management
- Experience in designing and leading fieldtrips is preferred
- Experience of knowledge mobilization activities in one of the above fields is preferred

Additional qualifying skills and abilities:

- Competence in spoken and written French would be a strong asset
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to respect deadlines and other project constraints
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
