**Duties and Responsibilities**:
We are looking for experienced civil works/excavation foreman to join our team.
- Manage day to day fill-site operations for SIPSCO site, scheduling field staff accordingly
- Manage project budgets, track expenses and make adjustments as needed
- Manage saturated materials for dewatering
- Supervise and coordinate construction projects from start to finish
- Monitor and report project progress, identifying and addressing issues that arise
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to address issues or concerns
- Oversee quality control measures to ensure that work meets industry standards
- Responding to RFP submissions
- Operational planning, supervising and coordinating daily activities of field crews
- Ensure daily logs are regularly entered into SiteDocs, including equipment and labour hours.
- Coordinate with President to ensure all resources (people, materials, and equipment) are in place each day.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators and loaders
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintenance
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and project specifications
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations on job sites
- Maintain a positive and productive work environment
**Qualifications**:
- 5 years of experience as lead hand or foreman, and a solid understanding of all aspects of excavation operations
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License and be able to travel to sites across the region, class 3 is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and safety regulations
- Proficient in the operation of various excavation equipment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Flexibility with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
**Technical Skills**:
- Understand site layout and organization, grading plans, and excavation requirements.
- Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, project drawings and specifications.
- Blind spot and spatial awareness.
- Understand load stability and limitations of the machine.
- Legal loading of trucks - from stock pile & in-situ.
- Knowledge of safe excavation slopes.
- Understanding of handling different soil types in wet & dry weather.
- Understanding of grades.
- Access and egress of site for trucks.
- Work around utilities (buried & overhead).
- Knowledgeable with a proven safety record of working around existing utilities.
- Ability to work long hours in all weather conditions
- Computer skills (knowledge of SiteDocs an asset)
- Mass excavation trimming for shoring
- Road building - Civil works
- Slab grade preparation
- Ground Disturbance - level 2 is an asset.
- First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset.
