Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. (NT Power) delivers power with pride to almost 50,000 customers within the Town of Newmarket, Town of Midland and Tay Township. Headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario, NT Power has an additional office in Midland, Ontario, which is approximately one hour north of Newmarket along the shores of Georgian Bay.

Our Journeyperson will be reporting to the Superintendent. You will work in a team environment at our head office in Newmarket. You will be responsible for providing technical skills and knowledge for the day-to-day construction, operation and maintenance of the NT Power distribution system.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Constructs, operates and maintains Overhead and Underground distribution systems while following all applicable rules, policies, and procedures:

- Terminating high and low voltage cables.
- Connecting new services and installing new meters.
- Repairing underground faults.
- Trimming trees and clearing lines where necessary.
- Installing poles and associated hardware for the construction of power lines and street lighting systems.
- Installing and maintaining electrical equipment such as padmount switch gear, etc.
- Conducting underground cable locates.
- Assist with day-to-day training of Apprentices.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

- Journeyperson Technician Certificate and/or an Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate of Qualification (Ontario Trade Code 434A) is required.
- 7 years’ experience performing relevant work.
- Completion of Working at Heights and Utility Work Protection Code Training.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to the safe work practices, including, but not limited to the following**:

- Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) Electrical Rule Book.
- Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (OHSA).
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- MTO Traffic Manual - Book 7.
- NT Power Emergency Guide and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s licence minimum class D with a Z endorsement.
- Able to have regular contact with commercial, industrial and residential customers, members of the public, contractors, and public sector employees.
- Rotational on-call duty is a requirement for this position.
- Must reside within 40 km distance as measured in a straight line of the corporate limits of the employee’s normal service territory.
- Physical strength and agility, and colour vision, to carry out key responsibilities, as assessed by a physician licensed to practice medicine in Ontario.
- Able to work in all types of inclement weather, including extreme weather conditions and plant environments and work with high voltage equipment.
