This position is accountable to service the needs of the customer base that contact Metal Supermarkets. The individual is expected to be aware of and support all goals relating to warehouse/operational plans and to conduct him/herself in a professional manner conducive to generating a team attitude toward maintaining effective staff and customer relationships. The Warehouse Lead serves as backup/resource person for the Operations Manager.

**Accountable for maintaining the company's integrity and representing its value proposition in a consistent and proactive manner.**
- Provide consistent, superior service by ensuring that all customer needs are recognized and serviced, and a high-level satisfaction is always maintained.
- Support the achievement of sales/budget targets, which includes attention to maintaining stock control, waste reduction and effective order processing.
- Maintain professional demeanor and conduct, at all times.
- Perform other duties as directed by General Manager/ Operations Manager/ Sales Lead.

**Leadership of warehouse team**
- Responsible for the performance of the warehouse team (Jr/Sr. Warehouse, Driver).
- Communicate relevant performance information to staff in a timely manner
- Manage order flows to meet all delivery and pick up timelines
- Be available as a resource to deal with difficult orders, equipment issues, warehouse team needs
- Receive incoming materials
- Assist in hiring, onboarding and safety training of new employees.
- Mentor and support warehouse staff on a day-to-day basis, facilitate ongoing growth and learning in a positive manner.
- Assist with staff performance assessments, and action on customer service events (delivery/quality events, customer follow up).
- Assist in conflict resolution and employee discipline processes
- Work with all other Leads to ensure effective operations

**Process orders safely and accurately the first time around.**
- Prepare customer orders based on material and size specifications in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ship customer orders. Prepare material for shipment by truck, courier or customer pickup.
- Handle inter-store transfers.
- Provide information and answer customers’ questions.
- Connect customers with a sales representative when required

**Safe operation of all equipment and lifting procedures to ensure accurate order processing.**
- Operate a variety of equipment including saws and forklifts.
- Keep updated on safe operation and lifting procedures to safely and accurately process orders.
- Complete Forklift operation training and any other training provided for operation of equipment.
- Identify to management equipment or situations requiring resolution to ensure safe operation.

**Ensure the effective and consistent receiving of material in the store and effectively managing inventory for efficient store operation.**
- Receive, identify and stock incoming materials as per Receiving Procedures. These inventory responsibilities include identifying inventory needs.
- Participate in inventory control.
- Maintain a highly organized warehousing environment with materials identified with color or written markings and stored neatly in the correct locations.

**Identify and perform required facility upkeep and general equipment maintenance**
- Provide proper maintenance of equipment.
- Keep work area clean and safe for customers and other employees.
- Order required warehouse equipment, PPE, and supplies, maintain operational levels of all critical consumables.
- Assist with special projects.

**Communicate effectively with all applicable stakeholders to keep them informed with respect to general warehouse operations**
- Provide updates on unique orders, stock/inventory issues and recommend solutions for problems encountered.
- Update management on facility upkeep and equipment maintenance.
- Update management on service or customer issues.
- Identify any issues requiring resolution on a timely basis.
- Communicate with sales lead on daily basis to streamline operations
- Communicate effectively with other store leads to optimize customer service and material flows
- Communicate with purchasing coordinator on inventory outages, shortfalls, opportunities, and changes.

Perform other duties as directed by General Manager or Operations Manager.

**Education, Knowledge, Skill and Working Conditions**:

- Minimum 2 previous years’ experience in a warehouse role.
- Forklift and saw and shear experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to read imperial measurements (inches and feet).
- Positive attitude, well-groomed and good customer presentation.
- Able to communicate fluently in English.
- Possession of valid driver’s license is an asset.
- Must be over 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada.
- Warehouse environment, Monday to Friday, 8:00-4:30, 8:30 to 5 and mandatory Saturdays at the Southside store as assigned.
