Work Hours: Shifts will be Monday to Friday, between the operation hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm

Compensation: $23.52

About Us:
The Student Association at BCIT is a leading non-profit student-led organization committed to enhancing student life through advocacy and providing student-centered, responsive and pro-active services. Considered one of the leading student associations in the province, we live our mission and are student-focused in all that we do. Students lead our organization and govern the affairs of the BCITSA. Our Board of Directors is composed of 12 elected Student Executives and Student Councilors from each of the different Schools at BCIT.

We are a licensed daycare with 3 separate rooms serving children from 18 months to kindergarten with a total of 62 spaces. The Opportunity

What You Will Do:

- Maintain a safe environment for each child by knowing and responding to their individual needs. This includes assisting with managing allergies and knowing how to treat them
- Customize all interactions and activities using inclusive practices and by learning the individual needs of each child.
- Employ the BC Early Learning Framework and the ECEBC Code of Ethics to support healthy development
- Recognize and address the signs and symptoms of anxiety in children in collaboration with the broader Childcare team
- Support the child growth journey by modeling table manners, and allowing them to independently perform daily tasks
- Use a collaborative team approach in the planning and implementation of program activities
- Lead and participate throughout the daily schedule: activities, programs, transitions and routines
- Supervise children during outdoor activities

About You:
You are an Early Childhood Educator who excels in clear and open communication. You are a flexible individual who understands the need to adapt to constantly shifting circumstances to ensure a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. You are eager to learn various styles of childcare strategies in a classroom setting. You show initiative to present solutions to concerns as they arise. You have demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with others, share ideas, and contribute to a positive and harmonious childcare environment. As a continuous learner, you will capture all learning opportunities to broaden your knowledge. You are passionate to work with young children and provide them a fun experience.

This position requires
- ECE license
- First Aid
- Criminal Record Check
- Able to use Microsoft 365
- Be able to lift up to 11kg (25lbs), bend, crouch, climb, stand, walk and carry
