**Summer Day Camp Leader**

**DUTIES**:
Reporting to the Recreation Programmer and Day Camp Coordinator, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- The successful applicant will be responsible for the planning, implementation and facilitation of a day camp program for children 6 - 12 years of age.
- Leading and facilitating Children’s Rights activities and discussions
- Working in a staff team and with volunteers
- Communicating with parents, caregivers, social workers, and local organizations to provide the best experience for the child
- Group management skills for large groups of children
- Promotion of and marketing the program
- Completing reports and maintaining budgets
- Attending training sessions
- Promotion and representation of Britannia Community Services Centre in a professional manner

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Applicants must have:

- Experience working in a day camp setting
- Awareness of risk management and best practices for child safety
- Strong leadership, administration and planning skills
- Interest in the recreation, education, social services or social science fields
- Ability to lead and facilitate age appropriate activities, games and discussions
- Ability to lead sports, crafts, games, arts, music and/or drama activities for 6-12yr old children, in an interactive, fun and high energy manner
- Must have a genuine interest in Children’s Rights, integration and anti-racism
- Knowledge in the _Equitas_ “Play it Fair” Toolkit is an asset
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification, must obtain prior to employment confirmation
- Class 4 Drivers License is an asset
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
- Canada Summer Jobs grant requires the position(s) to be filled by a young person between the ages of 15-30yrs.

**SCHEDULE OF WORK**:
Approximately 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday (late June to early September)

**WAGE**:
$21.27 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits and vacation.
- This position falls under the jurisdiction of CUPE Local 15
